At First, Laddie just stood there looking at the dust as the car sped away. He tried to catch the car, but he could not. Laddie stood in the middle of the road for a long time, wondering what had happened. He looked around. All he could see was pasture and cows and the dirt road.

There are no illustrations in this e-book aside from the cover, but they are not really needed to enjoy the story.The story itself is about Laddie, an Collie who is abandoned in the countryside by a "mean old man." Laddie had lived his whole life with one family, but the kids grew up and moved away, and his "Mom" passed away, leaving him with a man who did not like him. Once Laddie realizes that the man who left him is not coming back, he sets out to find a new place to live. He is old, and travelling is hard, and just when he is about to give up hope he meets some barnyard animals who lend him some help! Laddie eventually finds a happy new home.
This story was taken from a larger collection by the author called the Tales of Woofer's Woods. Recommended for kids and dog lovers.

Wooffer and his mom help an old, abandoned collie to see that it is never too late to learn about love in this, yet another delightful fable from Ms. Fasig's rich set of animal tales. Written for children, the stories are equally enchanting for adults.
Wonderful story. If only we could understand animals. I can understand my dog(Ladybug) but she is part human. This is a great book to read as a bedtime story. For any age especially if you are an animal lover.
Another cute story from Wooffer's Woods. The story shows the bad side of some people who treat animals cruelly, and the good when Laddie is helped by other animals and Wooffer and his "Mom." A good story to read with your children, and then hold a discussion on the proper treatment of animals who depend upon us.
